Fun Personalized Dog Collars for Large Breeds

April 26th, 2008

Large Bling Dog Collar photo

Design a collar for your dogs that is unique to their personalities. These collars have been a favorite for years. You can spell out their names with block or script crystal letters, or go for an industrial look with metal letters. Add a fun crown, bone or heart charm on either side of their name to add style. Created for small breed dogs or large breeds, these dog collars come as small as 6-8″ for teacup dogs, or up to 22-26″ for large dogs. Choose plain matte leathers or chic metallics - hot pink is a favorite. Below is the version for small dogs.

Carb-Free Dog Treats

November 28th, 2007

Dogs need to be rewarded everyday for good behavior, especially if you are training them. The treats you give them on a regular basis need to be healthy so they do not gain excess weight, or worse yet - get diabetes. It is more common now to hear of pets with diabetes, both dogs and cats. In many cases this can be avoided, with the exception of older pets. Your dogs can enjoy Becker’s Original BITES, a natural carb-free, grain-free dog treat made of 100% beef protein.

Carb-free beef all protein dog treats

These tasty treats a thin and resemble tortilla chips, so they are easy to break into smalling pieces for training rewards. Good-Doggie Boutique is thrilled to carry these treats, which were discovered by our own dog Lillie. Yes - Lillie picked them out at a trade show - as she pulled me into the booth while she licked the crumbs off of the carpet of Dr. Becker’s booth. Sadie and Lillie love these treats, and even the smell of them makes them twirl and dance in hope of getting a few morsels. We met Dr. Becker and learned how she and her mother created these treats out of need for carb-free treats for Dr. Becker’s dog, and later her patient’s dogs. Let us know how your dogs like them too.

Your dogs and cats are part of your family. Family vacations are fun but it can be a challenge to find hotels that allow dogs or cats. We like to travel with our dog, and so we are always looking for hotels or B&Bs that allow dogs. We are always adding locations to this list*, and if you have a favorite vacation spot that has a hotel or B&B that you’ve stayed at with your pet, please let us know.

We also offer pet carriers, dog ramps, travel bowls, cargo mats & seat covers to make traveling with your dog or cat more comfortable for both of you. Please visit the Dog Carrier section of our site to view our collection.

Delta Society Welcomes New Therapy Dog

September 19th, 2007

Sadie therapy dogOur own Sadie has joined the ranks as a new member of The Delta Society, as Therapy Dog. Delta Society is an international organization that was founded in Wisconsin. The group trains dogs and humans to be therapy dogs to visit people in hospitals, nursing homes, and for rehabilitation assistants in animal-assisted activity and animal-assisted therapy programs. The Pet Partners program is the only therapy dog group that trains and certifies the human or handler, in addition to the dog. All other groups only focus on the dog.

We will visit hospitals in the Madison-area, and hope to establish a program at the VA Hospital in the future.

Congratulations Sadie!

Dog-friendly Inn, near Menominee/Eau Claire WI

September 16th, 2007

Creamery Restaurant & Inn GardenThe Creamery is a charming restaurant and inn located in the tiny village of Downsville, WI. It is a short distance from Menominee, WI, a little further from Eau Claire, WI and only 1 hour east of St. Paul, MN. Nestled in a wooded setting, retreat owner Richard Thomas welcomes dogs to stay in any of the rooms. Mr. Thomas is also a dog owner and guests are accustomed to seeing his dogs at the inn and restaurant. We visited here this last weekend, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. I had the Grilled Chicken Salad on baby spring greens grown in their own garden, and Michael had the roasted Garlic Linguine with Wild Mushrooms. Both dishes were amazingly good.

Room at Creamery Inn

We also visited their gift shoppe which sells their fresh baked breads, muffins and dog bones. We bought some bones for Sadie & Lillie, and were impressed with how large they were at only 50 cents each. Yes - the bones got the Sadie and Lillie paws of approval! We wished we had planned to spend the night, but we didn’t know they allowed dogs. So we are planning a trip to stay there another time.

While in the area we took the girls for walks on the Red Cedar Trail. It was truly beautiful. We also attended the Dunn County Humane Society Fundraiser Walk four Paws on Saturday, September, 15th at Waconda Park in Menominee. More about this in another article with photos of participants.

We highly recommend The Creamery Restaurant & Inn, which has also been named one of the Best 25 Restaurants in Wisconsin by the Milwaukee Journal.

Spend the Night at the Vet with your Pet

September 14th, 2007

Has your pet ever needed Surgery or an overnight stay? Do you remember that longing feeling when you had to leave Fifi behind and go home while she recuperated? Thanks to the Compassionate Care Center in Westbury, New York, Long Island Pet Parents can spend the night too. Fun with Puppies

September 12th, 2007

We love puppies and have several friends with new puppies, and we are so excited for them to have their new family members. First we want to welcome Chewy, the SEO Wonder Dog, who is a brindle Puggle. Visit her on Flickr. Then Brian’s family rescued Indy, a 7 month-old Beagle from a No-Kill Shelter in Dodgeville, WI. We hear he is a good boy, but haven’t seen his photos yet. Now our friend Oscar has a 9 week-old yellow Labrador Retriever, named Lucy. We hope to learn more about Lucy this week and see her photos.

Please write and tell us about your puppies and the fun you have with them. And we love photos. Send us your link to them on Flickr.

Happy Tail Wags,

Michael & Debra

We have created a public Google calendar to promote canine community events. We started adding a few, and would like to know about other events to add as well.

You can view the calendar here, and we will figure out how to add it to the blog directly. You can click here to subscribe to it.
